A tree should feel at home before the first ornament goes on. Start with the space you have, then choose the shape, finish and lighting that suit the way you decorate.
Measure up. Then measure out.
Measure from the floor to the ceiling and leave extra room for your tree topper. Then measure the floor area available for the widest branches, leaving space for walking past and reaching nearby doors.
Compare the assembled height and width in the product details. A shipping-box measurement does not tell you how much room a tree needs when open.
Choose your silhouette.
A pencil tree offers a narrow profile for smaller display areas. A fuller silhouette creates a broader focal point. Two trees of the same height can have very different footprints.
Green or a little winter white?
Classic green foliage works with many ornament palettes. A flocked finish adds a snowy appearance to the branches. Choose the look you prefer, then check the care notes for the specific tree.
Find your favorite glow.
Check whether your chosen model is pre-lit and which light colors it offers. Some models have warm-white lighting; selected models offer warm-white and multicolor options. Remote controls, timers and lighting modes vary by product.
